Jürgen Klopp faces the decision of Thiago Alcantara when Liverpool thinks about Xherdan Shaqiri

Liverpool clearly prevailed at the top of the Premier League with a win over West Ham United on Saturday.

The goals of Mohamed Salah and substitute Diogo Jota were enough for the Reds to come from behind and take a 2-1 triumph at Anfield.

The Premier League and the world champions are now focused on the Champions League, with Jürgen Klopp thinking about his options.

And here we look forward to the changes the boss of the Reds could make for the group D clash in Atalanta on Tuesday.

Change in the back

Liverpool have to make at least one change to the team that started over the weekend.

Nathaniel Phillips, who impressed on his Premier League debut on Saturday, is ineligible as he was not included in the Reds Champions League squad.

Rhys Williams is ready for his first Champions League start despite the Reds waiting for Joel Matip to be fit.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are expected to continue serving as full-backs.

Time for Thiago?

Klopp has been keen to switch midfielders at every opportunity this season.

And with five substitute players approved in the European competition, he made the most of it, as Jordan Henderson was previously used in 45-minute stints.

It could be the same again on Tuesday with Liverpool likely to remain in the three-man midfield.

Thiago Alcantara was about to return this weekend and could play in Italy, while James Milner has become something of a weekday man this season.

One of Gini Wijnaldum and Curtis Jones, who both started against West Ham, is expected to start again, while Xherdan Shaqiri brought up a compelling case over the weekend.

The Firmino question

In last week’s win against FC Midtjylland, the regular three fronts rested before emerging in the second half – the opposite of what had happened to Ajax at the start of the group.

It would be a big surprise for Divock Origi to be in the XI while Takumi Minamino failed to take his chance against the Danes.

However, Diogo Jota is about to start after another match-winning contribution on Saturday, with Roberto Firmino having to take a break.
