Italy prevents several players from going with their national teams

The quarantine problem in Italian football clubs has turned into new chaos when the national teams come into play. Several players of the A league They have been blocked by the health authorities and will not be able to play the commitments of their teams because a teammate has tested positive.

It is the case of Dzeko, forward of Roma, and from the Spanish José Alley, from Fiorentina, both with coronavirus. The respective health authorities have stopped the trips of seven Romanista players and thirteen of the Fiorentina, who must isolate themselves at home until Sunday except to go to and from training. The Sassuolo players live in a similar situation, in home isolation until tomorrow, or Lazio. On the other hand, the competent health authorities regarding Inter and Genoa have not prevented their players from traveling in similar situations. The Italian problem continues to be the lack of uniformity of criteria between the different health authorities that are responsible for managing security during the pandemic.

“I ask that the Ministry of Sports intervene. It is absurd that the ASL (Local Health Authorities) behave differently in Rome, Milan or Florence. There are rigid protocols and we must all respect them, but there is also a dark area in the lack of centralism. Each ASL becomes central in the management of the clubs ”, protested the CEO of Inter, Giuseppe Marotta.

The consequences

Discomfort among European clubs, which pay the sports price if a player returns infected

Due to this situation, the Italian team of Roberto Mancini – who is also isolated because he is infected with coronavirus – has raised to 42 the summoned azzurri for the appointments against Estonia, Poland and Bosnia Herzegovina, although at the moment they cannot count on the players from Fiorentina, Lazio and Roma.

There is malaise in the clubs because in the midst of the pandemic the mobility of the soccer players summoned by their national teams is being promoted, something not recommended at the health level, and the control of the athletes is lost. If they come back positive after international matches, it is the clubs that pay sportingly for the casualties.

Leo Messi will also have to play two official matches with his team, against Paraguay, on Friday, and against Peru, on Wednesday, just before the duel against Atlético on Saturday 21. The Spanish team plays three games, the first a friendly against the Netherlands.
