Hülkenberg continues to hope for a seat: “But it will take a while before there is clarity”

Nico Hülkenberg continues to hope for a seat in 2021, with Red Bull Racing being his most realistic option. The German says that it is currently quiet about the talks: “I let it come to me”

The cheerful German had to leave Formula 1 after last season, after he was put aside for Esteban Ocon at Renault. However, he did not stay out of the picture for long. This season he has been allowed to fall in for three weekends at Racing Point, after both Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll had contracted the corona virus at one point. With those raids, he put himself well on the map, after which speculations about a fixed seat in 2021 began to take increasingly serious forms.

However, most seats have now been taken. Red Bull Racing therefore seems to be his most realistic option. Alexander Albon has a hard time with the Austrian formation and is not yet sure of his place next season, but Sergio Perez also seems to be in the picture with Helmut Marko. Hülkenberg, meanwhile, remains calm. When talking to Hello TV is asked if he has already signed a contract, there is room for a wink. “Sure, I got a new Bausparvertrag yesterday [soort hypotheek, red.] signed. In the long term, I naturally hope to achieve a return on that. ”

The German continues on a more serious note: “There is not much else to report. It has calmed down a bit with regard to all reports. It will probably take a while before there is clarity.” Hülkenberg therefore just let it come to itself: “I am quite relaxed and cannot control it myself. I remain ready and of course I hope that there will be another chance for me. I am very motivated. But we all have to have a little patience. ”
