Break in Hamburg! VfL Bochum leads 1-0 at HSV – and they deserve it. The Bochumers defend compactly and hardly allow anything from an HSV that repeatedly has difficulties and is looking for ideas. In the middle of the first half, Hamburg got into the game a little better and could actually have taken the lead through Jeremy Dudziak (27th), who was just offside. The goal fell on the other side – Robert Zulj hit a penalty in the 35th minute. Afterwards almost nothing went together at HSV, which has to change in the second round if the hosts want to remain unbeaten. In a quarter of an hour it goes on!

Halftime!

45. + 1 Min A minute is replayed, then there is a break in the Volksparkstadion.

44. Min Danilo Soares! The left-back pulls in from the outside lane and closes from the center. His attempt from the edge of the penalty area just flies past the right post.

43. Min Holtmann had an intense duel with Jatta in the penalty area, but committed an offensive foul. There is not the next chance for Bochum.

41. Min There are still four minutes left to play before the break. At HSV, there is still not much going together because Bochum is very confident and the leadership will now presumably also take it into half-time.

39. Min The 1: 0 is not undeserved due to the entire first half. Bochum make life very difficult for HSV this afternoon and hardly allow anything on their own defensive. VfL had their first chances before the penalty kick – but now they took the lead from the point.

37. Min HSV actually came into play better and better in the last few minutes. In the middle of this phase, Bochum is now taking a tour for the guests.

35. Min Zulj can not take the opportunity from the point and transforms massive in the top right of the goal. Ulreich is powerless against the penalty.

34. Min Penalty for Bochum! Ulreich brings Tesche down – and there is a penalty!

32. Min Hunt crosses the ball high and far into the danger zone, but Onana doesn’t get enough pressure behind the attempt with his header, which lands just next to the goal from an acute angle from the right side.

31. Min Losilla stops Hunt with unfair means in half of Bochum. There is a free kick from the back area.

30. Min It was a really good attack by HSV. The combination almost led to the 1-0, but half a meter that Dudziak was offside prevented the lead.

28. Min The scene is checked again, but the video assistant confirms what the linesman has already seen. Dudziak’s knee was very close to being offside during the pass. The decision is correct.

27. Min It could have been 1-0 for Hamburg! A well-played attack goes over the right side of HSV, on which Jatta has a lot of space. His flank lands precisely at Dudziak, who only has to push in flat from ten meters. But the assistant saw immediately: Dudziak was just offside.

27. Min Goal for HSV! Dudziak hits the lead – but the hit doesn’t count!

24. Min On the other hand, it is Wintzheimer’s again who is creating danger. In the penalty area, the HSV attacker gets the ball, but does not bring it towards the goal with enough pressure if he falls. Riemann between the posts has no problem picking up the ball.

22. Min Bochum now had two good opportunities in a row to score the opening goal. The guests are an uncomfortable opponent for HSV, who have a hard time getting their own game idea onto the field.

21. Min Onana loses the ball in the forward movement to Tesche, who serves Danilo Soares. His cross finds Zulj in the center, who in turn just misses the goal.

20. Min The corner kick is also dangerous. When Zulj crosses, Ulreich has to intervene again in the HSV goal, this time he is there with a fist and fends off the ball.

19. Min Zoller! HSV loses the ball in midfield and Bochum switches quickly. Zoller Leistner runs away on the right-hand side and closes flat at an acute angle from around 15 meters. Ulreich has to stretch and directs the shot just past the post.

17. Min On the counterattack, Leibold is from Danilo Soares stopped. The first yellow card of the game is awarded for the tactical foul.

17. Min The corner does not fly safely from Zulj to the center, but it is not precise enough. The chance fizzled out.

16. Min Blum crosses from the left into the middle, where Leistner can clear the ball without any pressure. But he doesn’t hit the ball properly, his ricochet lands in the goal and leads to the corner kick for the guests.

14. Min In this initial phase, the Bochumers are very offensive and start the Hamburg defense early. As a result, HSV is repeatedly forced to make mistakes in the build-up of the game, but in turn the Hamburgers have a lot of space in the case of quick counter attacks.

13. Min Zulj is looking for Zoller with a flank that flies sharply into the six-yard space. Heyer is right and is a step faster than the Bochum attacker, so he can clear the cross.

11. Min From a similar position Hunt now gets the next opportunity, this time after a foul on Terodde. Jatta gets the ball, but heads just over the goal.

10. Min Hunt brings the dormant ball as a cross into the penalty area, where Leistner climbs up to the header and just missed. Bochum clears out of the danger zone.

9. Min Wintzheimer, who is very active in this initial phase, is stopped hard in a duel on the left and brought down. There is a free kick from a good position for HSV.

7. Min HSV has a lot of space and countered via Onana and Jatta. His cross pass into the middle is not very precise, but Wintzheimer can control the ball and tries it from 20 meters. Leitsch is right in the penalty area and blocks the tight shot.

6. Min Zulj puts pressure on the left flank and leaves three HSV defenders behind while dribbling. He wants to lock from the edge of the box, but the shot is blocked.

4. Min Wintzheimer dribbles himself centrally in front of the Bochum penalty area and takes off for Hunt, whose shot from a distance is a mixture of shot and pass and therefore ends up in nowhere.

3. Min Also on the other side, Bochum comes in front of the gate for the first time. Jatta loses the ball to Holtmann on the left, but the attempt from distance is too harmless and no problem for Ulreich.

2. Min The corner ends up precariously near the penalty spot, but with united forces, the Bochumers can clear the situation.

1. Min The first opportunity for HSV! Wintzheimer takes the ball from Bella Kotchap on the left wing and then decides in the penalty area for a cross pass to Terodde. However, this does not arrive, there is only a corner kick.

1. Min The ball is rolling in the Volksparkstadion!
