He eventually tested positive for coronavirus

Fabio Fognini took part in the ATP 250 double tournament at the Forte Village Sardegna Open in Pula and teamed up with the young compatriot Lorenzo Musetti. However, he was defeated in the first game against the Italian team of Andrea Vavassori and Lorenzo Sonego, who prevailed in a close challenge in the super tiebreak of the third set.

A few hours later, the San Remo tennis player announced that he had tested positive for coronavirus, so he had to spend the following days in quarantine.

The expected recovery and 2020 from Fognini

After three weeks of isolation, Fabio finally announced his full recovery on social networks, making the victory sign with his hand and showing a lovely smile.

In any case, the former top 10 had already announced that he did not intend to take part in any other tournament of the season and would rather rest for the new year. This year 2020 Fabio took part in the inaugural edition of the ATP Cup, but could not overcome the round robin with the Italian team.

In Auckland he left the scene immediately, while in Melbourne he reached the round of 16 before losing to American Tennys Sandgren, author of a great tournament (he almost beat Roger Federer too).

In Rotterdam, Fognini played six games against Karen Khachanov, while in Dubai he was stopped by Daniel Evans in the third set. After the Davis Cup win against South Korea in Cagliari, the Ligurian played in Kitzbühel, Rome, Hamburg and Roland Garros and scored a single win in Germany against host and veteran Philipp Kohlschreiber before losing to young Casper Ruud.

Former number 9 in the world, Fabio, reached the quarter-finals in Paris in 2011 and won nine major Tour titles, including the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 last year. Excellent doubles player, in this specialty he won the 2015 Australian Open trophy with Simone Bolelli qualified for the ATP Finals of the same season.
