Often, even with good reason, it is said that to race in Formula 1 it is enough to have a bag full of money or a father who has already been part of this world – the circus has always been full of children of art. But it’s not always like this. Giuliano Alesi’s career, son of the great Jean, risks running aground, perhaps not permanently because at the age of only 21 he is about to suffer a heavy setback. The Ferrari Driver Academy has decided not to confirm this.

In 2016, while still a minor, Alesi junior entered the Ferrari nursery with Charles Leclerc, he raced in Formula 3, finishing fifth and seventh in the championship, then promotion to Formula 2 where he did not particularly shine, although this season he started well in Austria, driving a car that was not exactly competitive. His performance did not convince the Driver Academy executives who decided not to confirm it.
The difficulties in finding sponsors
And now his career has become tremendously complicated, because to continue racing you need sponsors that Giuliano Alesi doesn’t have, as his father Jean also said. In an interview with ‘Blick’ with disappointment rather than disappointment, the former Ferrari driver spoke of this unfortunate season: “In 2020 we bet on the wrong team, the BWT HWA. We paid more than a million euros, but not all promises have been kept. When we switched to MP, HWA wanted another 80,000 euros ”.

Alesi said with great frankness that he has not been able to find sponsors for his son for the coming season and the young Giuliano is in serious danger of being out in 2021. Jean, who is a legend for the fans of the Red team, was a racing author heroic, to run his son months ago he sold one of his Ferrari: “We have no sponsors for 2021. Ferrari fired him from the Academy and I can’t even raise private funds. I sold my Ferrari F40 myself ”.
Piquet’s help and his first contract with Ferrari
