For the Latvian bobsleigh team, it is clear only about the first crew in Sigulda stages

The World Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup will start in Sigulda, and the matches will take place for two weeks in a row. If skeletonists and bobsleighers have two competitions, then in the men’s bobsleigh competition in doubles in Sigulda, four sets of medals will be divided.

In Sigulda, Latvia has three starting places for men in bobsleigh, but there is a possibility that in the second stage not all of them may be used.

“I can’t say about the second one yet, because at that time it is also planned to drive and prepare for the European Cup stage in Winterberg. It is clear that the first is Oskars Ķibermanis’ crew, we will decide on the rest, “There are 12 stages for doubles and only four crews for four, we have not ridden with four at all this autumn and it may turn out that we do not drive until the New Year, it is a certain disadvantage,” the Latvian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (LBSF) quotes Pruss.

Meanwhile, LBSF Secretary General Zintis Ekmanis emphasizes that organizing these stages is a big challenge.

“We are all worried, but in a good way, in a positive atmosphere. I believe that everything will work out, we will do everything at the right level, as required by the rules of international federations at the time. I already have the same concentration as I once did in world-class matches. , “says Ekmanis.

Janika Judeika, the director of the Sigulda stages, noted that there will be very strict security requirements for media employees and other persons involved.

There are also very strict requirements for the athletes themselves and the service staff. Everyone coming to the track must have a negative Covid-19 test and then again on the track will be performed an additional test provided by the mobile “E.Gulbis laboratory”. You have to wait for another negative result in the next eight hours and only then you can participate in any activities on the track. During the competition and training period, periodic Covid-19 tests will be performed on the Sigulda track in addition to all the regular ones.

The competition on the track will take place without the presence of spectators.

At present, it is still difficult to predict how many national crews will participate in the Sigulda stage, but the interest is great. It is unlikely that the US and South Korean teams, which plan to spend the first half of the season on their tracks until the turn of the year, will not participate.

The first and second stages of the World Cup will take place in Sigulda from November 16 to 29. The competition, as usual, will take place on weekends.
