flippo Baskets BG 74 Göttingen: “Red” for Lojo favors Herne victory

What a hard-fought game! In the first home game of the women’s basketball league, the flippo Baskets BG 74 Göttingen lost 63:71 (37:33) against the Herner TC. In the 32nd minute, Baskets coach Goran Lojo saw “red” (disqualification) for complaining and had to leave the hall after two technical fouls, which at least helped the guests win.

Viki Karambatsa, who scored the winner’s basket in the cup game in Herne 1.1 seconds before the end, brought the flippos into the front. At 5: 6, however, the lead changed for the first time through Hernes Kristina Topusovic. And it went back and forth: Samantha Roscoe scored at 9: 6, but after 10:10 the West Germans were ahead until the end of the quarter, also because they got 10: 5 rebounds. 17:20 after the first ten minutes, you could tell that Herne wanted to make up for the cup bankruptcy.

It goes without saying that the game in the almost empty FKG hall, in which only the helpers were present, remained tight and exciting. Because the fans were missing, the mood came from the bench. Especially the bank players of the BG 74 worked hard and cheered on their teammates loudly.

It was noticeable with the Baskets that initially there were no threesomes. In Herne, Riley Lupfer had sunk nine distance throws. Only in the final minute of the first half did Lupfer hit from across the perimeter – the first three of the entire game. Another disadvantage is that the Göttingen women were only able to use ten of the 17 free throws, the Hernians (with Laura Stockton, the sister of ex-BGer Michael Stockton) on the other hand nine out of ten. Despite everything, the Baskets were 37:33 ahead at break.

Even after the change, the match remained extremely intense. The Göttingen had the better start, but from the 23rd minute onwards the HTC always put forward, so that the BG 74 had to equalize. Two ball losses, two step errors – that takes revenge in such a close game. Much more important, however, were the rebounds: 31:18 after 30 minutes for the guests, who appeared more alert in many situations.

The last quarter began very bitterly for the BG 74: Coach Lojo conceded two technical fouls for a loud protest and had to leave the hall; Assistant Jonas Fischer took over the coaching. The BG 48:57 fell behind, but thanks to Lupfer’s three-point, it was able to shorten it to 56:57. The better end then went to HTC, who took the BG 74’s triple strength (only two of 16) and clearly won the rebound duel with 42:21.

Coach Lojo: “Before I had to leave, I complained about a double foul on Jenny Crowder. The exclusion had no influence. We gave too many free throws and allowed too many rebounds for Herne. “Jenny Crowder:” I was badly mistreated. We fought well, played at eye level. Herne was superior to us in terms of size and length. “Her father and Baskets boss Richard Crowder:” The technical fouls were justified, but before that there were two clear wrong decisions by the referees. “

17:20, 20:13 – 11:19, 15:19.

Blazevic 15, Roscoe 13, J. Crowder 14, Azinovic, Karambatsa 9, Lupfer 6/2 Dreier, Dzankic 6, Bosilj.

Lawrence 11, Topuzovic 15/1, Stockton 10/1, Pelander 14, Harris 13, Westerik 4, Bully 4.

Only two DBBL games

Corona also has a lasting effect on the DBBL. Only two games were played at the weekend. Except in Göttingen, only wine presses were played. TK Hannover received the rejection during the journey to Wasserburg. Now the DBBL is discussing whether there should be corona tests across the league. Richard Crowder: “The costs would drive us to bankruptcy.”
