FC Bayern withdraws contract offer for Alaba – Sport

In the poker for David Alaba, FC Bayern Munich has withdrawn its contract offer. Herbert Hainer, the president and chairman of the supervisory board of the German record champions, said this on Sunday evening on “Blickpunkt Sport” on BR television.

After months of negotiations, the consultant was told that they wanted a decision by the end of October, explained Hainer. After no answer came, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic checked again – but without an agreement. “As a result, we have now decided to take the offer off the table completely. That means there is no longer any offer.”

Alaba’s contract expires next summer. Both sides have been negotiating a contract extension for months. “We want planning security for such an important position and personnel,” said the 66-year-old Hainer. He emphasized again that in his opinion the club offer was “very good, very fair, competitive”.

Bayern want to tackle Alaba’s successor immediately

Coach Hansi Flick had recently recruited Alaba to stay with the German record champions. Most recently, sports director Salihamidzic had stated that Alaba did not want to set “an ultimatum” for a decision. The Austrian moved to Munich in 2008.

Hainer let it be known that the successor is now being tackled. “Of course, we also have to plan for the future. I want to say again that we really appreciate David, he is a lovable guy, he is the crowd’s favorite, he is FC Bayern Munich’s own generation, and that’s why we would regret if we have to go our separate ways at the end of the season, “said Hainer.

As part of the national team, Alaba spoke a few weeks ago about the importance of Bavaria as his current center of life. “I feel very at home in Munich, it has been my home for twelve years. I was able to experience very nice moments there,” said Alaba.
