With the departure of Mike D’Antoni, the era of smallball In Houston. Or at least that can be interpreted from his latest acquisition. As reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Rockets have reached an agreement with DeMarcus Cousins, to add him to their ranks for one year and with a non-guaranteed contract.
According to what was reported, Houston showed interest in signing the four times All-Star before the NBA restart in July. We will have to be attentive to how Cousins evolves, after suffering multiple injuries, which left him unable to play a single minute the previous season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
As echoed by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the pivot had a private training with the Rockets today; where she impressed the entire organization, dispelling any doubts about her health. This would have convinced the Texas franchise to sign it just hours later.
It is not clear, with this latest report from Haynes, if Cousins will be available to start the season, since days ago his representative confirmed that although there are no setbacks in his recovery, he will take time to reappear and he is not expected to dispute the first month of competition.
A new opportunity will then have Cousins, who knew how to be one of the most dominant players in the League. We’ll see if he can set a new course for his career, which has been cut short in recent years by a terrible streak of injuries.
