Cooper Cronk believes the Blues were deprived of one last chance to hit the results in Origin I when Paul Kent demanded that umpire Gerard Sutton be dropped for the rest of the series.
On one insane final minute, the Blues 18-14 deficit, the Maroons attempted to slow the ball down, causing Felise Kaufusi to go sinful and Queensland to put James Tedesco on what turned out to be the final tackle of the game.
The Blues seemed to clear the ball before the clock ran out, however, and Cronk believes Sutton misunderstood the crucial final call.

Controversial end of Origin 1

“Just the controversial little end there towards the end,” said Cronk.
“Kaufusi, that was the right call he had to make. But a few seconds before the end there were about five Queensland Maroons basically giving away the penalty and waiting for the clock to run out.
“Gerard Sutton should have given a penalty and maybe given NSW two seconds to prepare for a game because that was an infringement that had to be followed up.”

“After that, he shouldn’t control Origin anymore. He totally lost it there.
“Kaufusi was just belligerent and refused to leave the field and pretended not to know what was going on. Sutton should have got him out.
“And then at the last minute NSW actually passed the ball with the time on the dummy half’s clock. Then the siren rang with the ball in play and he whistled all day.
