Colombia National Team: Steven Alzate was not called up by Carlos Queiroz | Colombia selection

Carlos Queiroz delivered the list of 24 players summoned to the Colombian National Team to face Uruguay and Ecuador on November 13 and 17 respectively, on the double date of the South American Qualifiers heading to Qatar 2022.

With the complete list, one of the great absences that the Tricolor will have for this third and fourth date, will be that of the Brighton midfielder, Steven Alzate, who, in what is believed, by technical decision was left out and will not be part of the national campus. Punished?

Well, Alzate, who was one of Colombia’s revelations at the start of the Qualifiers, especially for his great game against the Chilean National Team in the second half, has been out of rhythm since he returned to England. The 22-year-old midfielder has not had the expected participation with his club, since in the four games played in the Premier League after the break, he has only played 10 minutes with the first team (against Albion), and in the others he has remained in the bench of substitutes.

Thus, Alzate must regain his place in the club’s starting line-up if he wants to continue being called up to the Colombian National Team, it was shown that the Colombian-English midfielder is a good alternative for Carlos Queiroz, and surely the Portuguese coach will continue to keep him in the radar.

For now, the natural replacement for the midfielder in the squad is Edwin Cardona, another of the country’s great talents who has improved his level since he arrived at Boca Juniors. Get on your feet, Get up!
