Brose Bamberg wins test match against Frankfurt

Brose Bamberg prevailed against the FRAPORT SKYLINERS in a test match 78:71. Without a total of eight national players (5x Brose, 3x Frankfurt), a strong third quarter of Bamberg (27:12) laid the foundation for the victory after a reasonably balanced first half (35:40). Especially from the outside, the home side presented themselves accurately, hitting 17 three-pointers in 37 attempts. Three Bambergers scored double digits: Hall (19, four threesomes), Fieler (17, five threesomes) and Grüttner (15, four threesomes).

Joanic Grüttner: “We lost 14 balls in the first half, which was of course too many. We did a lot better in the second half and got into the attacking rhythm. We moved the ball well, always found the free man. Special praise goes to Elias Baggette, who did a great job without much training together. “

Frankfurt got into the game better, quickly leading with five points and in the middle of the first quarter even two-digit: 2:13. Above all, Brose had problems taking care of the ball and had already lost eight balls in the first ten minutes. But offensive it worked better from the sixth minute. Plescher and Hall each hit the threesome, and Elias Baggette was successful. Murphy’s Dunking finished the quarter at 3:18 pm. And the second ten minutes also belonged to the Frankfurters who, after six Kessens points in a row, moved back to seven points (20:27, 15th). The three-pointers in particular kept Brose in the game during this phase: Grüttner, Fieler and Plescher were all successful from beyond the 6.75m line and thus ensured that the gap at the break was only five points: 35:40.

The home side came out of the cabin strong and were now stable, especially in defense. Frankfurt only scored the first field basket after seven minutes in the third quarter. By then Brose had turned the five-point deficit into a ten-point lead (56:46, 27th). As before, it was the three who found their way into the guest basket to a high degree. After 30 minutes Brose was leading with 62:52. And the Bambergers couldn’t take this lead in the final section either. At the latest after Chase Fieler sank his three-pointers four and five to 72:60 with four minutes left, the game was decided. Frankfurt tried everything again, scoring safely from the free throw line in the final phase, but could no longer prevent Bamberg’s victory. Brose Bamberg won 78:71 in the end.
