Broncos ‘Quarterbacks: Denver will not have quarterbacks for the Saints’ game on Sunday due to Covid-19 protocols

In a statement on Saturday, the Broncos said Drew Lock, Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles had been identified as “high-risk Covid-19 contacts” and were required to complete a five-day quarantine.

“The three quarterbacks who did not experience symptoms immediately left the training field and left the UCHealth Training Center. All three have consistently negative for Covid-19, both through daily PCR tests and additional POC tests carried out as a precautionary measure tested. ” Team statement said.

Quarterback Jeff Driskel and wide receiver Diontae Spencer were added to the reserve / Covid-19 list earlier this week.

Several Broncos players, including Noah Fant, responded to the NFL’s decision on social media.

“I’m not the one to complain, but @NFL you can’t possibly send us into a game without a QB,” Fant said on Twitter. “The most important position for a crime. We don’t even have a backing …”

“Does anyone know if Peyton Manning is busy tomorrow? Laughing but serious,” he said in another post.

Denver, currently 4-6 for the season, is slated to face the 8-2 Saints, who have won seven games in a row, on Sunday afternoon.

According to the team’s website, three players from the Broncos training team were added to the list of matchdays on Saturday: Troy Fumagalli, linebacker Josh Watson and Safety Alijah Holder.

The team has not announced a replacement quarterback.
