ATP> Murray: “I do not understand those who think that Federer’s SABR or spoon services are disrespectful”

Andy Murray gave a very interesting interview to Metro media. He talks about his fear of uniform tennis, where all players play the same way. He notably defended the famous SABR (Sneak Attack By Roger: roger’s sneak attack) and spoon services. The Briton advocates originality.

“I don’t understand those who think Federer’s SABR or spoon serves are disrespectful. I remember reading an article years ago where Becker criticized Roger for making this gesture. If he is able to do it and succeeds, why wouldn’t he do it? Now every time you see a tennis player serving from below, commentators are outraged and ask if that is disrespect. I find that incredible, it’s a totally legitimate way to play and even more so now that there are players who are far behind the baseline. Really, that sounds very smart to me. Maybe if you lose the point doing it you feel like an idiot, but my feeling is that the percentage of points gained by serving from below is very high because you surprise the opponent ”, found the former world number 1.
