Athens and the Institute: two realities, the same challenge

Although with dissimilar panoramas but with the same illusion in tow, the delegations of Athens and the Institute are already installed in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, where from this Wednesday they will face an atypical National League under the bubble format. Both Cordovan representatives will meet at 9:30 p.m. in the opening match.

Both green and red-haired will make up the Northern Zone of the competition that will be staged by the mythical “Héctor Echart” from Caballito. The two schools were subjected to the respective swabs and in the afternoon they completed a series of movements at the San Lorenzo stadium.

The General Bustos neighborhood Greeks settled in Caba with a handful of uncertainties in their attempt to present their best version. The biggest concern is how the team will assimilate the news of the death of who was its head coach, Osvaldo Arduh, who died this Monday a victim of the coronavirus.

“El Turco” had been isolated since the 15th of last month and later had to be admitted to an intensive care unit due to a pulmonary complication. In his replacement, the team will be led by the pair made up of Cristian Colli and the son of coach, Nicolas Arduh.

While Athens will not count for the debut with the couple of foreigners hired, since both the guard Ty Jordan and the pivot Josh Nzeakor, both from the United States, are still in their country processing what is necessary to travel to Argentina.

In other words, Atenas, which had its first practice on Monday afternoon, will start the competition with Lucas Machuca, Alejo Andrés, Federico Colla and Tomás Gutiérrez (bases); Joaquín Ríos and Maximiliano Araujo (bodyguards); Matías Martínez and Octavio Sarmiento (forwards); Gastón Córdoba and Tomás Rossi (power forward) and Juan Manuel Torres (pivot).

La Gloria, in full

The reality of the Institute appears diametrically opposite to that of its neighbors in General Bustos. Those led by Sebastián Ginobili arrive with all the potential foreseen for this instance and their reality is in line with the plans projected from the beginning of the preparation.

Also installed in Caba and after having received the corresponding swabs, the team welcomed Venezuelan Néstor Colmenares (33-year-old and 2.03-meter pivot forward), who is the only reinforcement with which the Institute will start the competition.

The Gloria squad, which this Monday worked at the San Lorenzo stadium, will start with Santiago Scala, Lucas Reyes and Marco Ceppo (bases); Pablo Bertone, Mateo Chiarini and Federico Pedano (bodyguards); Martín Cuello, Pablo Espinoza and Juan Cruz Tulián (forwards); Néstor Colmenares and Gonzálo Torres (power forward) and Ignacio Alessio and Enzo Rupcic.

The two teams from Córdoba make up the North Zone together with Quimsa and Olímpico de Santiago del Estero; San Martín, Regattas and Communications of Corrientes, La Unión de Formosa, Libertad de Sunchales and the “youngest” of the category, Oberá TC de Misiones.
