The number of points cannot be matched or even surpassed by the rival teams with four races remaining.

Mercedes’ closest competitor, Red Bull Racing-Honda, currently only has 226 points, 253 points adrift.

With four races remaining, the maximum points Red Bull Racing can earn is 172.

After winning the Emilia Romagna GP and ensuring Mercedes as the constructors’ world champion, Hamilton also talked about his future.

As is known, Lewis Hamilton’s contract with the Mercedes team will finish at the end of the 2020 season.

Previously, the British racer was optimistic that he would stay at Mercedes next season.

However, now, Hamilton changed his statement.

The 36-year-old racer admitted that he could no longer promise anything.

“I don’t know if it’s still here next year, so I don’t really think about it,” Hamilton said Crash.

Lewis Hamilton admits that he is still discussing the new contract with Team Principal Mercedes, Toto Wolff.

Hamilton also hinted that his future in the team nicknamed The Silver Arrow depended on Wolff’s position

“I understand and continue to dialogue with Toto. I know his position and we share a lot of burdens,” he said.

“I’ve been at Mercedes for many years and understand that he wants to focus on family and other things.”

“I don’t know who will replace him, but Toto will not put someone who can’t work,” Hamilton explained.

Therefore, Lewis Hamilton did not want to rush into deciding his future as an F1 driver.

“It’s November and Christmas is soon. I feel good and strong,” Lewis Hamilton said.

“Actually, I can still race, but there are other things I need to consider,” he said.

“I want to stay but there are no guarantees. There are many things I’m looking forward to, so only time will tell,” Hamilton said.

Lewis Hamilton is still firmly at the top of the 2020 F1 driver standings after winning the Emilia Romagna GP race which took place at the Imola Circuit, Italy, yesterday.

Through this victory, Hamilton added 25 points and is further away from the pursuit of his rivals in the standings.
