Torreón, Coahuila.- Continuing with the activity of the first UAL University Sports Congress, this November 10 it was the turn of Sergio Molina Soler, current coach of the Mexican Basketball Team, who virtually taught the topic ‘The player profile of the National Team ‘, in which an important number of the community of the Autonomous University of La Laguna participated.
The conference began at 2:30 p.m. via the UAL Facebook Live page, in which Lic. Juan Antonio Wong Lezama, the university’s sports coordinator, was in charge of directing a pleasant talk with Sergio Molina, a native of Spanish and with an outstanding career, appearing as senior coach of the Spanish Basketball Federation, Sports Physical Trainer for the Institute of Health, Medicine and Sports, in Mexico he was assistant coach and physical trainer of the National Women’s Team from 2009 to 2011, coach of the Men’s Under 18 National Team and currently coach of the Major National Basketball Team, among others.
Unfortunately for Sergio, he has not had the desired time to work with the Mexican National Team, since, due to the pandemic, everything fell apart:
“With this we are experiencing, something historical, the Covid-19 and with this pandemic, I have had very little time to work, in what is on the court, we could not carry out a tournament that was suspended, etc., in what yes we have been able to advance is in the subject of programming, preparations ”.
The main objective of Molina Soler, at the head of the Mexican team, is to assemble a competitive team like the one known as the ’12 Warriors’, which played the World Championship in Spain in 2014: “it was a very important litter, the one we all know from The 12 warriors who took Mexico to the top and to that international recognition, I am sought to make a generational change, the federation asks me to introduce new values and seek that adaptation, but problems always arise, it is not so easy to be able to summon a player, many obstacles arise along the way, hopefully circumstances will change soon ”.
