After the heavy 1-4 defeat in the Europa League, AA Gent beat Waasland-Beveren with the same figures. Especially in the first half, the class difference was enormous. Roman Yaremchuk made a flawless hat-trick.

Ghent smelled blood and refused to release its stranglehold. A splitting pass from Odjidja put Yaremchuk alone in front of goal. The Ukrainian striker did not miss and completed his flawless hat trick. With a 0-4 deficit at half time, the home team was allowed to re-source.
More balanced second half, Sinani with the savior
Coach Hayen’s thunder at half-time had its effect and Waasland-Beveren came out of the dressing room better. After a messy phase, the ball ended up with Sinani who shot the ball past Bolat in a while.
It was not more than an honor saver for the home team. Ghent rolled off the match in savings mode and let Waasland-Beveren come into the game better. Still, Wim De Decker’s men held out easily.
Ghent breaks its negative spiral and moves up to place 12. Waasland-Beveren remains penultimate for the time being.
