The government promotes the development of adapted basketball in the province :: EL HERALDO

The meeting took place after the Argentine Confederation (CABB) has put an area of ​​Adapted Basketball within its organization chart and in view of this initiative the FBER arranged an opening towards people with disabilities in order to involve this activity within its organization in the near future. Organizational structure.

In the virtual meeting, the Secretary of Sports, José Gómez, brought to those present the greeting of Governor Gustavo Bordet and the Minister of Social Development, Marisa Paira, and thanked the Basketball Federation “for having articulated this important meeting with referents of the sport of different localities of the province ”.

“We are working so that more and more people with disabilities can enjoy sport. We continue to build bridges and open doors on this path towards inclusion ”, he stated.

In turn, the official pointed out: “The provincial government is very committed to adapted sport and that is why this year we created the Adapted Sports area in the Secretariat because we consider equality very important; this is a clear recognition of the inclusion policy proposed by the governor ”.

“In the Secretariat we work to promote the dissemination and development of adapted sport. This type of meeting is welcome because it commits us to make more of an effort so that adapted sport reaches every corner of the territory of Entre Ríos ”, said Gómez.

For her part, the General Director of Adapted Sports, Roxana Villagra, highlighted: “We understand that the tool that adapted sports offers us is an important strategy to develop this type of awareness about the need for inclusion. It also allows us to reflect that beyond any physical impediment, if the desire and desire are present, the practice of sport is a more than valid option ”.

Meanwhile, the president of the FBER, Julio Giménez, said: “From the Entre Ríos Basketball Federation we are involved in the growth of adapted basketball and we are going to work so that the activities are part of the Federation’s institutional scheme. As an institution we want to be a tool and a means of training and promote inclusion through the integral development of all people, in addition to raising awareness of the benefits of practicing basketball, not only in sports but also socially together with the family ”.

On the other hand, the leader indicated the steps to follow and stated: “The members of the Board of Directors are going to work in this area and we will surely decide to form the Adapted Basketball Department within the FBER organization chart.”

It should be noted that in recent years the Adapted Basketball in the province has had an exponential growth in its different branches and modalities. Inclusive basketball (people with disabilities with different pathologies), on wheelchairs, for the blind and for the deaf and hard of hearing, are some of the specialties that the discipline develops on entrerriano soil in clubs and institutions.

The virtual meeting concluded with the intention of working on a project to support, guide and promote Adapted and Inclusive Basketball, understanding that this is a sport that promotes social and personal values, which allows those who practice it to achieve individual growth, raise their self-esteem and progress in their motor skills, thus improving their quality of life.

Also present at the videoconference were Santiago Rimoldi, director of the National School of Basketball Coaches of Argentina Entre Ríos Region; Marcelo Primitivo, director of disability of the Municipality of Concordia; Gustavo Briosso, coordinator of adapted sports schools of Nación Región Centro; Santiago Ledesma, a member of the CABB kinesiology corps staff; and Santiago Losada, president of the Department of Competences and Associations of the FBER.
