The Black Lagoon puts the applicants to the test

The unprecedented final on the Soria summit of the Black Lagoon-Vinuesa will be the first pure arrival on top of the 75 Vuelta a España, in which again the candidates for the final triumph to win the red shirt must be the main protagonists.

The Spanish race will chain its third consecutive day of mid-mountain with a demanding end in a day that will take the peloton from the Navarrese town of Lodosa to the end on the ascent to the Laguna Negra-Vinuesa, after traveling through La Rioja lands, with a route of 166.1 kilometers.

The Black Lagoon is not an excessively hard port due to its average percentage of 5.8%, but its final kilometer and a half presents increasingly hard ramps that start at 8.7%, to rise to 9.5 and finish at 10% .

Although on the route to face the ascent to the Black Lagoon, the cyclists will only face the ascent of a third category such as the Alto de Oncala, located in the middle of the route, practically all the transitional terrain through which the peloton will circulate this third day will be constantly ascending.

The day can be considered an authentic ambush in which rest areas will practically not exist, except for the 18 kilometers of descent that separate the summit of Oncala with the Soria town of Garray.

The peloton will depart from an altitude of 350 meters to face a route in constant ascent of 79 kilometers to the top of Oncala, located at 1,457 meters, and after its descent they will start a slow climb again until the final kilometers to face the port of La Black Lagoon.
