Ten possible candidates for the Barça presidency

After the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board of directors, FC Barcelona is left in the hands of a management commission that will be officially constituted this Thursday at 11:30 am and will be chaired by the economist Carles Tusquets. Its main mission is to call elections within a maximum period of three months. A boat soon, there is already talk of ten possible candidates for the position, although, logically, not all will pass the cut of the required signatures to appear.

There are already five confirmed candidates: Víctor Font, perhaps the favorite because he has been in the campaign for many months and has Xavi Hernández as coach; Toni Freixa, media man and protagonist of a hopeful attempt in 2015; Agustí Benedito, who always rears his head when there are elections; Jordi Farré, with the endorsement of being the promoter of the vote of no confidence that ended with Bartomeu; and Lluís Fernández Alá, debutant in these struggles.

He has not announced it yet, but everyone hopes that former president Joan Laporta will also appear, as well as Emili Rousaud, former vice president of Bartomeu who was ranting against everything. Finally, Xavi Vilajoana, former director of Bartomeu and the most soccer fan of all, could also step forward; Jordi Roche, former president of the Catalan Federation who has already threatened to appear on other occasions; and Joan Rosell, former president of Fomento.

Meanwhile, the harsh words of Bartomeu in his farewell against the Generalitat still linger, leaving in the air that feeling that the Government of Catalonia pushed him to resign, with its decision to allow the vote of no confidence on November 1 and 2 because he wants a pro-independence president and not a ‘fit’ with everyone like him. The other reality is that Bartomeu needed to delay the vote of no-confidence for two weeks to decentralize it and take it to 21 locations, 13 in Catalonia and eight in the rest of Spain, in a desperate attempt to overcome it, since the partners from outside Catalonia were more alike to him for his good treatment of the rock world. It is also true that, for health reasons, as argued, it was impossible and irresponsible to take place at the Camp Nou, in a single venue. In any case, few barcelonistas regretted the resignation of Bartomeu, although the instability of the club does concern everyone.
