Stefan Effenberg: FC Bayern almost unbeatable

Dear football friends,

After Thomas Müller’s great performance in the first few weeks of the season, the question arises again: Should he play for the German national team again?

Actually, the nomination should be about the best being nominated – and there is no question that Müller is one of them. But that’s not what the DFB is about.

There they do not want to take the risk that a new, old hierarchy will arise around Müller, Mats Hummels and Jérôme Boateng. If it was only about performance, then I don’t understand why these players were not nominated.

FC Bayern can dance at all weddings

After all: the three save the stressful international breaks. Of course, they put an extreme burden on the players. With the top clubs there is also the fact that they dance at three weddings and therefore have several games every week.

If a team can handle participating in three competitions, it is FC Bayern. The squad is now so good and broad, also in terms of quality, that it won’t be the big problem to play every third day.

BVB is on the right track

Lately there has been a lot of discussion about the lack of tension in the Bundesliga. This is also what the “Future of Professional Football” task force founded by the DFL is concerned with.

The bad news for the competition is that Bayern Munich will always position themselves in such a way that they can win the Champions League – or defend the title. For that you need extremely high quality, and when you play in the Bundesliga, the other clubs usually have no chance until – maybe – Borussia Dortmund.

I still think: the way the Bundesliga is, it is good. It’s not exciting at the very front because Bavaria is simply too dominant. But they worked hard for that, they didn’t get this situation for free.

The others have to do everything possible to get close. BVB is on the right track.
