Silvio Zanchetta: An ex-kicker brings amateur soccer players into the spotlight

At the beginning of August, after the ÖFB Cup draw, the Pongau team had a great lottery ticket: The regional league team was looking forward to competing against Austria’s record champions Rapid Wien. “The crowning glory was that our duel was also broadcast live on ORF Eins,” emphasized trainer Ernst Lottermoser in an S24 conversation.

From the gate behind the camera – Zanchetta in her element

Silvio Zanchetta was the only outsider who was allowed to follow the very special game up close. The former goalkeeper has a long friendship with St. Johann’s assistant coach Erwin Keil, and has already recorded his wedding in a film.

Together with his ex-teammate from the time in Kuchl, they both developed the idea of capturing the highlight with a film. “I was immediately taken with the project,” Zanchetta told S24. The family man followed the Pongau people every step of the way and was part of the team from the corona tests to their departure.

“Traum-Los” accompanies St. Johann in Vienna

The office worker who lives in Oberalm christened his first soccer documentary “Traum-Los”. In the almost 24-minute long film, he puts amateur footballers in the spotlight – as is done almost every week on sizasport.tv.

“The professionals get enough attention anyway. I focus on the lower house, because as a player I was always happy when someone was reported on,” explains the family man.

How much work there really is in such a documentary surprised the trained photo businessman (until 2005): “In addition to the preliminary reports and the trip to Vienna, I worked on it for up to five hours for a month.”

In the end there wasn’t much time for Mrs. Mirjam and daughter Lea Marie. “Luckily my wife let me get away with it, otherwise it wouldn’t have been possible.”

Mega feedback on the House of Commons documentary

The end product of the Mammut project is impressive (see video above). The feedback at the premiere on Friday in St. Johann was correspondingly positive. “Mega, sensational, goose bumps and a world-class documentary were the first reactions.”

However, Zanchetta couldn’t really enjoy the pictures: “It was extremely stressful. I ran and always had the feeling that I could miss something. I didn’t even take photos for my personal photo album,” he looks back.

Siza Sport in the starting blocks

“Dream lot” is said to have only been the beginning. In the future, the man from Tennengau wants to dedicate himself fully to his passion and is even giving up his full-time job for it. Starting next summer, he will only keep the camera on amateur athletes and wants to bring table football and other athletes into the spotlight full-time with advertising.

“Because the step back to the roots and football just fulfills me.”
