Roland Garros> Toni Nadal: “Djokovic is the most favored by these playing conditions”

Rafael Nadal’s uncle was contacted by phone by Agence France Presse to take stock of the tournament and especially to talk about Rafael Nadal.

Toni therefore expresses with real sincerity his feelings about this very special edition of Roland-Garros which does little to benefit his nephew: “I think Rafael is pretty good. He arrived with uncertainties because this is the year he played the least before the tournament. In the third round against (Stefano) Travaglia, he played well. But Sunday (against Sebastian Korda), it was too windy for you to really judge your game. As conditions change, you have to impose your style of play. To gain a point, you have to prepare for it longer. In previous editions, Rafael was very effective on points under 9 shots. This year, the exchanges are a little longer. The topspin shot is not as effective. So like all the other players, he uses damping a bit more.«  Toni explained.

Subsequently, the former coach of Rafa, is even more explicit, in particular on the fact that Novak Djokovic seems favored by this type of conditions, by the specificities of the new ball: « Novak is very solid. I think he’s the one who is most favored by the new balls. When the ball is alive, Rafael manages to overflow it, but this will be more difficult. “
