Roda JC wants to secure an extra keeper before the end of the transfer period.
Technical director Jeffrey van As confirms that the arrival of a new goalkeeper is near.
Hoekstra
It has everything to do with the temporary absence of Jan Hoekstra, who started the season as the first goalkeeper. He sustained a shoulder injury in the opening match against Young Ajax.
Van As does not expect Hoekstra to be under the Roda-bar in matches in the coming weeks. “You have to take into account a recovery period of about six weeks after getting that injury. But after that you still have to get into the match rhythm, otherwise there is a good chance that you will get yourself in trouble again ”, says the technical director about the FC Groningen mercenary.
Vulnerable
It means that Hoekstra will probably be available again in November at the earliest. “We are vulnerable in that position. Two young keepers are now sitting on the bench behind Youri Roulaux ”, says Van As about Loek Hamers and Dylan Vranken. “And Youri is also a young goalkeeper and we would actually have been second keeper behind Jan (Hoekstra, ed.). We were out with Roulaux on Friday and Hoekstra got injured on Sunday ”, said Van As.
Suspension or injury
Roulaux did not leave a convincing impression in a number of duels, but Van As mainly fears a scenario in which that keeper would also be injured. “If he runs into a suspension or injury, you really only have two goalkeepers left who come from the youth and still have a lot to learn.”
Fitness
Van As does not want to say who should come to Kerkrade. “But something concrete is going on,” says the technical director. The transfer period continues for two more days. Van As would rather not get transfer-free players, because those players have not built up fitness in the preparation at another club.
Bakker
Roda is also close to the arrival of ADO midfielder Danny Bakker. It is expected to be presented on Monday. In addition, the Koempelclub will rent out attacker Mart Remans to a Dutch club.
