Preview of Week 8 of the 2020 NFL Season • First and Ten

Like every week, we asked the staff about the main stories to follow in the preview of week 8 of the 2020 NFL Season.

What version will we see of the Bills’ offense and their QB Josh Allen against the Pats, after battling so hard against the Jets?

Alejandro Martinez: We will see an offense similar to the one that started the season. The Patriots’ defense has declined as it has advanced in the season and has shown a level more attached to what was expected, so Allen must take advantage of that to get back on track. He lost to the Titans and Chiefs, and then struggled to score against the Jets. Well, that is the ideal scenario to be effective again.

Andrés de Esesarte: We will see a cautious Josh Allen. They know this Pats defense is competent and they won’t want to hand over the ball. Better to walk into the game to give New England’s reeling offense extra chances.

What will be the key for the Ravens to take the unbeaten one from the Steelers on Sunday?

Alejandro Martinez: That Lamar Jackson comes out to give his best game of the season. His inconsistency as a pitcher has meant that the Ravens are not as dominant as they were in 2019 and that they even came close to losing to the Eagles this season. If he can take advantage of the weapons he has and looks precise with his passing, as well as exploiting his dynamism on the ground, he can take away the undefeated Pittsburgh.

Andrés de Esesarte: Very important to see the best version of Lamar Jackson by pass. The Ravens have already beefed up the defense with DE Yannick Ngakoue, but they need more offensive productivity and more against this brand new Pittsburgh defense.

What can we expect from Tua Tagovailoa in his debut against Sean McVay’s Rams?

Alejandro Martinez: Let him prove that head coach Brian Flores was right in giving him the title after the Dolphins bye week. His talent and projection as a quarterback is such that he can clinch a victory, proving that sitting down veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick wasn’t such a bad idea after all. Tagovailoa will have a huge debut to lead Miami to improve to 4-3.

José Andrés de Esesarte: An acceptable match without being spectacular. He will have to pick up the pace, he faces a powerful defense with DT Aaron Donald who will surely give him a lot of work. Tua will have to create chemistry with his receptors and week by week he will improve.
