NBA will celebrate its 2020 draft virtually | Excelsior

NEW YORK

The NBA announced Thursday that it will hold its 2020 draft this month virtually due to the pandemic of coronavirus, as other leagues such as American football (NFL) or women’s basketball (WNBA) had to do.

This event, in which 30 teams select the best talents in college basketball and abroad, it will take place on November 18 for the first time at ESPN’s studios in Bristol, Connecticut (northeast).

Both NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and his deputy Mark Tatum will announce the first and second round selections from the study and you will virtually connect with the top chosen players

The pandemic, which forced a suspension of the NBA season from March to July, it also caused the postponement of this draft ceremony, originally scheduled to take place on June 25 at the Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets (New York).

According to the draw for positions held in August, the Minnesota Timberwolves will select first in the draft, followed by the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons.

Among the favorite players to be chosen in the first positions are guard LaMelo Ball, younger brother of New Orleans Pelicans player Lonzo Ball; guard Anthony Edwards (University of Georgia) and center James Wiseman (University of Memphis).
