Manchester United news and transfers RECAP Maguire latest as well as Pogba and Fernandes updates

The Premier League has confirmed that Project Big Picture has not been approved by the top 20 clubs after an emergency meeting on Wednesday.

As The Telegraph first reported, Manchester United and Liverpool were the driving force behind a proposal to revive English football.

The plans were aimed at reshaping the game’s finances and the Premier League would have given the English Football League a £ 250m bailout to help the clubs cope with the coronavirus crisis.

In addition, both the League Cup and the Community Shield would have been scrapped, and control of the Premier League would have been transferred to the division’s largest clubs.

However, the Premier League has now confirmed that the planned reforms were rejected after a meeting between the clubs.

“The Premier League shareholders unanimously agreed today to work as a 20-club collective on a strategic plan for the future structures and financing of English football,” the statement said.

“The Premier League clubs also agreed that Project Big Picture is not supported by the Premier League, any of their clubs or the FA.”
