LPGA: Brooke Henderson pursues Kim at KPMG Women’s Championship

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. – Sei Young Kim had another strong day at the KPMG PGA Women’s Championship, handing a 67 (under-3) card on Saturday to retain the lead after three rounds at Aronimink.

The South Korean finds herself at minus-7 after 54 holes, two strokes ahead of Canadian Brooke Henderson and Swedish Anna Nordqvist. Kim has 10 wins to her credit on the LPGA Tour, but she’s aiming for a first major title after finishing second at the KPMG PGA Women’s Championship in 2015 and tied for second at the Evian Championship in 2018.

Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont., Won the tournament in 2016 and tied her career-best score in a major championship round playing 65. She had five birdies and dodged bogeys.

“Sometimes I have a hard time remembering that I’m a major tournament champion,” said Henderson. But it’s times like this where it can give me a little bit of confidence. Can’t wait to see what I can do tomorrow. “

Nordqvist scored 68 and is aiming for a third career major title.

South Korean Inbee Park (66) is three strokes behind on the head, while Filipino Bianca Pagdanganan played 65 for a second straight day to settle in fifth at minus-3. Pagdanganan hasn’t bugged since the first round.

Park is a three-time KPMG PGA Women’s Championship champion. Another victory would equal Mickey Wright’s record at this tournament.

Alena Sharp of Hamilton completed her round in 73 strokes and is tied for 49th at plus-7.
