Liverpool transfer recap: Upamecano on Reds radar as Wilson’s future uncertain

Liverpool’s transfer deal was wound up ahead of the frantic deadline rush this summer, with Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcântara joining long before the window closed.

Much of the late Liverpool activity involved spending, with Rhian Brewster sealing an initial £ 18m move to Sheffield United and Marko Grujić heading to Porto for a season.

The club have been unable to attract a number of fringe players including Harry Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri, but hopes remain that deals can be made with EFL clubs as the national window doesn’t close until October 16 5:00 p.m. is closed.

Here is the recap of the Liverpool transfer on Thursday 8th October.

Marko Grujić, Jürgen Klopp’s first contract as Liverpool boss, has signed a third loan deal with Porto in Portugal in just as many seasons.

The Serb has spent the last two years with Hertha Berlin in Germany, but this year a move to the Champions League team Porto was sealed.

According to HITC, Liverpool fans have praised chief negotiator Michael Edwards for his efforts to bring an undesirable first-team player to a prestigious club – and especially one who will face Liverpool’s title rivals twice this season.

Grujić could still return to Anfield and prove to be a useful player for Klopp, especially if he regularly puts Fabinho in the center-back.

The 24-year-old is still young and a season in the Champions League will benefit the player who was one of Hertha’s most consistent players in the last two Bundesliga campaigns.

Upamecano in Liverpool’s sights for next summer

RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano could be with the German team in his senior year despite recently signing a new contract with the club.

The Frenchman has been announced to have a £ 36.5m release clause that will go into effect next summer, which means a slew of top clubs will be pursuing the signing of a top international defender.

Sport Bild -bericht Liverpool could get into the negotiations in front of long-time admirers and close rivals Manchester United, guaranteeing Champions League football and the opportunity to fight for titles on multiple fronts.

Jurgen Klopp could be in the market for a new center-back next summer as his side have scored an unprecedented 11 goals in their first four Premier League games this season – only West Bromwich Albion have conceded more goals.

The price duo is too expensive for interested clubs

Liverpool’s attacking midfield pair Harry Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri are set to be sold in this season’s winter transfer window, according to Daily Star.

The duo could pose a problem for Jurgen Klopp, however, as they have to perform regularly if the Reds are to have the chance to get the £ 20million they want each.

WalesOnline reports that Leeds United’s broad man Harry Wilson was being considered but the Whites deemed the player unworthy of such a fee and switched for Raphinha from Stade Rennais instead.

As a result, Wilson has been bogged down at Liverpool with no sign of displacing the attacking quartet Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino or Diogo Jota for a lengthy run in the first team.

Also reported by WalesOnline, Burnley was said to have been interested in Wilson but a £ 16m bid was rejected.

Wilson’s chances of regular action have now also been reduced after he was banned from the Champions League squad in Liverpool while Shaqiri was there.
