Le Nouvelliste – Good record for Haitian badminton

Good record for Haitian badminton

It’s no longer a secret that 2019 has been a very difficult year for the Haitian sports world. However, the Haitian Badminton Federation, thanks to the dedication of its leaders, was able to do well. Pierre Emmanuel Bijou, president of the FHB, returned to Le Nouvelliste for the year 2019 before unveiling the prospects for the year 2020.

Returning to the main activities carried out by his federation (between January to March), the president of the Haitian Badminton Federation said: “From February 23 to March 3, we were in Martinique to take part in a training session organized by AFB and Panam badminton. For the occasion, Haiti was represented by four athletes and two coaches. As a bonus, badminton came home with a medal. It should be noted that before this trip, the federation had held its general assembly. It was a Saturday February 14 ”, before returning to the highlights of the months May to July.

“In May (20-22), we attended the general assembly of the World Badminton Federation in China. The following month (June 8 to 10), the badminton team, from the Artibonite department, won our traditional inter-school tournament. In collaboration with the world badminton body, the BWF and Panam badminton, we organized (July 10 to 13) a training session, called: “shuttle time” at Boudette (Artibonite) ”.

To complete the information relating to the activities carried out by his federation, President Bijou specifies: “From October 22 to 26, Haitian badminton was in the Dominican Republic, to participate in a regional competition. For the occasion, Walter Jean-Pierre reached the quarter-finals. How can we not mention, on Sunday December 8, the release of our general secretary, Diane Délorier? ”.

If we trust a briefing note published by the Haitian Badminton Federation, Haiti will be present at the regional and international level. Indeed, for the year 2020, Haitian badminton will travel to Guadeloupe to participate in a “shuttle time” training session. From April 23 to 26 in Guatemala, Haiti will have to take part in the 24th Pan American Championship before organizing its traditional inter-school championship in May.

In the USA (Tour BWF), Haiti, if all goes well, will be represented from June 23 to 28 at the US Open Yonex. In Mexico, from July 9 to 17, Haiti should in principle participate in the 29th Pan American Championship, the CAREBACO junior championship in August and senior in November, not to mention the international championship of the neighboring Republic which will be held from October 22 to 31.

To close the year, apart from the training sessions for new referees and monitors, the Haitian Badminton Federation announces for the month of December (24 to 27) the holding of its national championship.
