Lazio Rome in quarantine after positive tests for Covid-19

“Some members of the group tested positive during examinations carried out on Friday,” club laziale announced on their website on the eve of their match in Torino.

Lazio does not specify the number or identity of players tested positive but this is the first time that it explicitly confirms cases of Covid-19 in its workforce after having mentioned “dubious” tests during the week.

“The positive subjects were placed in isolation at their home while the team will observe a period of quarantine under active supervision of the medical staff,” adds the club in the capital.

Several starters, including striker Ciro Immobile and midfielders Luis Alberto and Manuel Lazzari are among the players who did not travel to Bruges this week due to “questionable” results before the start.

Despite a workforce decimated by injuries and absences related to the coronavirus (12 packages in total), Lazio Rome had obtained a point in Belgium (1-1).

New tests are planned this Saturday in order to “identify the players who can play Sunday against Torino” on behalf of the 6th day of Serie A, said Lazio, currently 12th in the Italian Championship.

Lazio will then follow with a trip to the Zenith Saint Petersburg field on behalf of the 3rd day of the Champions League.
