Juan Sebastián Muñoz: performance in the third round of the Zozo Championship PGA Tour – Other Sports – Sports


The Colombian Juan Sebastian Muñoz got back into the fight for the ZoZo Championship, after a third round of 6-under par, 66. Muñoz, who led after the first round, is in fourth position, three strokes behind pointer Justin Thomas, with a total of 200 hits (-16).

Thomas, at 19-under par, leads by one over Spaniard Jon Rahm, who this Saturday scored 63 strokes.

Muñoz, who is the player with the most birdies in the championship (23), scored eight birdies and two bogeys this Saturday.

The 27-year-old from Bogotá finished with two birdies on the last three holes, the last one on the final hole from 14 meters, and thus got back in position to win his second title on the PGA Tour.

“It was a very good round, where I started with many birdies, I felt very comfortable, hitting the ball well, happy with the result and ready for Sunday,” said Muñoz.

Regarding the excellent putt that he put in the 18th hole, the Colombian said: “The putt had like three falls but luckily I could see the putt of Justin (Rose) and that helped me.”

Muñoz, who arrives after his best season on the PGA Tour, where he finished eighth in the FedEx Cup last season, will seek a new title this Sunday. “I feel like the key will be to have a lot of birdie putts, give me a lot of chances, I have to try to make the putt flow by itself since I’m playing it very well.

The ZoZo Xhampionship moved this year to Sherwood Country Club, in Thousand Oaks, California, after the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided not to play it in Japan, its original headquarters.
