Jadeveon Clowney guarantees he will be ready for Monday Night Football

Jadeveon Clowney, a defensive end hired by Tennessee Titans this week, conveniently missed the training camp period and almost every possible opportunity to prepare for the 2020 season with a new team. Even so, he believes he will be ready to perform in week 1, on Monday Night Football (11:20 pm departure from Brasília), against the Denver Broncos.

“Monday night? Of course I’ll be ready, ”said Clowney in an interview this Thursday (10). “I have to be. That’s what I came here for. I look forward to playing again ”.

While the rest of the league spent the last part of July and early August preparing for the start of the season, Clowney remained on the market, analyzing his suitors. He almost joined the New Orleans Saints before finally signing with the Titans, trained by a man with whom Clowney has some history.

“I was just trying to find out what scheme and what I wanted to be part of,” explained the athlete. “I knew that when I was with Vrabel in Houston, I was an All-Pro, a second-team All-Pro, and three Pro Bowls with him. So, I was just saying in my head ‘I think I can do this to him on this system’, and that system worked well ”.

Clowney will need that familiarity to adapt to the Titans’ defensive group and understand his role in the squad, while also adjusting to playing at its highest level – all with just a week’s work.

“I think Mike Vrabel is one of the most intelligent coaches I’ve ever had. He knows how to get the guys in position to make moves. This is what he did in Houston and when I got here, he already started doing this to me. He gets the best of me ”, finished Clowney.
