New information regarding the quest for a coach on the Rockets side, to which Daryl Morey, who nevertheless resigned, still participates. Tyronn Read, who was announced as the favorite, is of course no longer in the race since he decided to accept the Clippers’ offer and if we are to believe Fox26, there would only be 3 candidates in the running to succeed Mike D’Antoni.
It would be
- Jeff Van Gundy, who has not coached since 2007 (he coached the Rockets from 2003 to 2007), and who was announced a few days ago as favorite with Lue.
- John Lucas, attending the Rockets. While he had emerged as a candidate last week, the NY Times reported that now he would be a very serious lead, which is therefore confirmed
- Stephen Silas, assistant to Rick Carlisle at the Dallas Mavericks. He would have had a second interview yesterday with the Rockets, and he had been in the race for the positions of the Bulls and the Pacers (he would not be in the finalists)
We can think that it is only a matter of hours before we know who will be on the Texas bench next season.
