Historic Zasca from Chris Evert to Novak Djokovic

The legendary American tennis player Chris Evert criticized Novak Djokovic for saying that his rivalry with Rafa Nadal was the greatest in tennis history after his resounding loss to Rafa Nadal in the final of Roland Garros.

Djokovic and Nadal have already met 56 times after the Spanish victory by 6-0, 6-2 and 7-5 on the court Philippe Chatrier.

”I have played against (Rafa) more than I have played against any other player in my professional career. Our matchup is the biggest matchup in the history of sport … and he is my biggest rival, ”Djokovic told the media.

Evert, however, was quick to rectify the Serb, recalling his historic rivalry with Martina Navratilova, that he became an American citizen after leaving Czechoslovakia.

“Well it’s true … in men’s tennis … Martina and I played 80 times,” tweeted Evert, who won 18 Grand Slam singles titles, seven at Roland Garros.

The tweet was mentioned by the winner of 12 Grand Slam singles, Billie Jean King, who also reminded his fans that Evert and Navratilova had met 80 times. “History matters,” he tagged.

Navratilova also won 18 individual Grand Slam titles and beat Evert 43 times as the pair dominated women’s tennis in the 1970s and 1980s.
