Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was sprayed by Porto coach Sergio Conceicao. Because of what?

City hosted Porto at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, England, Thursday (22/10/2020) in the morning WIB, in the inaugural match of Group C in the Champions League. There was a moment of debate between Guardiola and Conceicao on the sidelines.

The two coaches had arguments regarding the referee’s decision. After the match, Guardiola got his head straight, and called himself good friends with Conceicao.

However, the Porto coach is the opposite. To the Portuguese media, he said that Guardiola’s attitude was very bad.

“I have a lot to learn from Pep Guardiola, the way he presses referees, talks to opposing players and the opponent’s dugout,” Conceicao told Portuguese media.

“He’s a fantastic example. I have to learn this. We are like angels compared to the opponent’s dugout.”

“He spoke about our country in bad words. Guardiola’s attitude was very unpleasant,” he said.

Conceicao then referred to Ilkay Guendogan’s foul on goalkeeper Augustin Marchesin, as City trailed 1-0. Before City could equalize the score to 1-1, the German midfielder was judged to have violated it first. At the end, City itself finally won the match 3-1.

“All over the Manchester City dressing room, if anyone complains, it is Porto’s bench, because we struggled a lot. I have to apologize to the referee in Portugal, because I complained when I thought we were struggling,” he said.

“However, compared to the officials of this match and those in charge of VAR, the international referees have a lot to learn from us in Portugal.”

“The referee has a big influence on the results of this match. [Augustin] Marchesín has a bad leg now, because he was fouled before the penalty award, “said Conceicao, complaining of the foul directed to his goalkeeper.
