Due to safety reasons related to Covid-19, two Latvian football championship games with the participation of Pieriga clubs did not take place over the weekend and were postponed. On Saturday, the Women’s League match FK “Olaine” – “Metta” did not take place, in which the fate of silver and bronze medals, as well as the mutual match of Latvia’s second league leaders FK “Salaspils” – “Albatroz SC” / FS “Jelgava” would have been clarified. A thorough drop of goals was recorded in several matches.
In the second position of the Latvian first league table, Ķekava football club “Auda” has strengthened, which beat the football players of FC “Dinamo Rīga” at home. With 36 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. However, in the 61st minute Igors Kovaļkovs equalized, but in the last minute of regular time, Pasifiks Hektor Gbaguidi earned “Audai” a victory and three points – 2: 1.
The footballers of the sports club “Super Nova” met the guests with the football club “Smiltene”, at the end of the first half after Alexei Višņakov’s exact shot took the lead, but in the last 15 minutes he earned two red cards and also lost the goal – 1: 1.
Daugavpils “FC Lokomotiv” retains the first place in the table – 28 points in 11 games. FK “Auda” is in the second place, which gives an opportunity to fight for a place in the playoffs (25 points, 12 points), and the closest follower football school “Alberts” is seven points ahead. SK “Super Nova” with 15 points in 12 matches is in the fifth place.
In the last round of the first stage of the Latvian league, the team of Mārupe Sports Center won the place in the top six, which will take each other in the second round. In Jaunmārupe stadium, the owners of the field received Balvi footballers and in the first half of the match they lost 0: 2. Shortly afterwards, Rainers Veide regained one goal, five minutes later the guests remained in the numerical minority, and their hosts made full use of it – twice Kristiāns Korsaks, once Dāvis Vilcāns and again Rainers Veide hit four more balls in half an hour – 5: 2. Previously, the place among the six best teams had been earned by FK “Salaspils” footballers, who take the second place in the table (p. 22). The Marupians are the fifth (p. 18).
The players of the United Football Academy “Olaine” were short of the “Top 6”, who in the last game of the first stage destroyed the tournament club “Krimulda” at home 7: 1, but remained the first “behind the bar” (p. 16). Agris Glaudāns scored two goals for Olaineers, Daniils Tolmačovs, Vitalijs Makejevs, Klāvs Balodis and Dāvis Vējkrīgers for one, one for Krimulda. Renārs Kazus scored the honorable goal for the guests. In the second stage, Olaine and Krimulda footballers will meet again.
The tournament of the Riga region of the third league of Latvia is coming to an end, in which the victory has already been guaranteed by Caramba Rīga footballers. In the last game, they met with the footballers of the sports club “Upesciems” and celebrated the victory 2: 0. The team of Garkalne region has finished in the fifth place (25 points in 16 matches), but the team of the football school “Rakari”, which has one more fight left, will not be able to climb from the last ninth position. On Sunday, in the penultimate match, “rakari” gave up the unit of Riga Technical University 1: 2 (the only goal was scored by Kristaps Aleksandrovs).
In the women’s 1st league tournament, the team of Babīte Sports Club and “Dinamo Rīga” experienced a thorough defeat against the leaders of SK “Super Nova” footballers – 1: 8. Jana Romase scored the only goal in the 27th minute, reaching the result 1: 3. In turn, FK “Auda” played a draw 0: 0 away against the football club “Iecava”.
In the tournament table, the Ķekava team takes the fifth place before the end (22 points), but the Babīte footballers – the seventh place (15 points).
