According to information collected by SATURDAY, hacker Rui Pinto is collaborating with the Judiciary Police. The rapprochement between the two parties has been building in recent months. The rapprochement between Rui Pinto and the investigation of the PJ had already been worked on for some time at the highest level. The aim has always been to keep the investigation within the rules of criminal procedure, as is mandatory in Portugal, without ignoring the contributions that Rui Pinto can make in the clarification of other crimes, particularly in the area of ​​economic and financial crime.

“On the present date, the preventive detention coercion measure applied to Rui Pinto was revoked, having already abandoned the premises of the prison establishment attached to the PJ [Policia Judiciária]. Rui Pinto is now subject to the measure of obligation to remain in housing, combined with the prohibition of access to the internet, under the responsibility of the Judiciary Police “, says a statement sent to Lusa by lawyers William Bourdon, Francisco Teixeira da Mota and Luísa Teixeira da Mota.

On January 17, the Lisbon Criminal Instruction Court decided to bring Rui Pinto to trial for 90 crimes of illegitimate access, improper access, violation of correspondence, computer sabotage and extortion attempt, but dropped 57 of the 147 crimes for which the defendant had been accused by the Public Ministry (MP).
