Dominic Thiem loses an endless match

Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman, 14th in the world, qualified for his first Grand Slam semi-final at Roland Garros after a marathon match against world number 3 Dominic Thiem on Tuesday.

Schwartzman won the game in five innings of 7-6 (1), 5-7, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (5), and 6-2. The duel lasted a little over five hours (5:08).

Schwartzman (28) will face Rafael Nadal, twelve times winner of the Parisian Grand Slam, who beat the young Italian Jannik Sinner (75th) 7-6 (4), 6-4, 6-1 to carve out a place in the final.

Double finalist out of Roland-Garros and recent winner of the United States Open, Thiem passed three times two points from the match at the end of the fourth set before breaking down.
