Daniel Altmaier loses to Pablo Carreno Busta

Daniel Altmaier’s sensational run at the French Open has stopped. The 22-year-old from Kempen missed the next big surprise in the 2: 6, 5: 7, 2: 6 against the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta and was eliminated in the second round. Altmaier had caused a sensation with his victory against world number eight Matteo Berrettini from Italy in the third round, against Carreno Busta he came into the game much worse.

And the young German stays right in the rhythm: “I’m lucky that I can continue next week in Cologne,” he said after the defeat: “I’ll reflect on something now and get very ready for the coming weeks.”

From October 12th to 18th he will be at the ATP tournament in Cologne in front of a home crowd.

Pütz fails in doubles

Roland Garros is also over for Tim Pütz. The Frankfurter narrowly missed the semi-finals in the double competition.

The 32-year-old former Davis Cup player and his Danish partner Frederik Nielsen lost to the top seeded doubles Sebastian Cabal / Robert Farah from Colombia 7: 6 (12:10), 4: 6, 6: 7 (7: 9).
