The Lisbon Court of Appeal (TRL) today granted Judge Helena Leitão’s request for refusal (removal), presented by the defense of Rui Pinto, creator of Football Leaks.
“(…) The presuppositions required by law are deemed to have been verified and, as a result, the request for refusal by Madam Judge Helena Leitão made by the defendant and claimant Rui Pedro Gonçalves Pinto is deferred”, says the TRL, in response sent to the Lusa agency.
The request for removal of Judge Helena Leitão was presented by the defense of Rui Pinto, as the magistrate was a client in another case of João Medeiros, a former lawyer of the PLMJ company, one of the entities ‘spied’ by the accused, according to the prosecution of the Public Ministry ( MP).
