KOMPAS.com – PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan said that the Indonesian U19 national team will participate in the Toulon Tournament in France.
This was conveyed by Iriawan in a limited meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of Indonesia (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy and the Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali which was held via video conference on Tuesday (20/10/2020).
On that occasion, Iriawan conveyed the latest developments in the Indonesian U19 national team.
It is known that the U19 national team, which is currently undergoing a training center (TC) in Croatia, is projected to appear at the 2020 Asian Cup (held 2021) and also the 2021 U20 World Cup.

The Garuda Muda squad under Shin Tae-yong has been undergoing training camp in Croatia since the end of August.
After completing TC in Croatia, the U19 national team squad will return to Indonesia. Furthermore, they are prepared to attend the next training camp in France.
“The U19 national team in Croatia since August 30, initially to face the U19 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan in October this year, but was postponed to the beginning of 2021,” said Iriawan.
“The U19 national team returned (to Indonesia) on Wednesday, October 28, then returned to their respective clubs to compete in League 1 and League 2. The plan was so, but the permits had not been issued,” said the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule.

In France, Garuda Muda will participate in one of the prestigious youth tournaments, namely the Toulon Tournament.
This was done as preparation for the 2020 Asian Cup in Uzbekistan and the 2021 World Cup which will be held in Indonesia.
“Then the plan, the U19 national team TC will return to France. They will depart on December 21, 2020, there until January 2021,” said Iriawan.
“(U19 national team) will take part in the Toulon Tournament, training and testing there,” he added.
“They returned to Jakarta on January 23, 2021 to prepare for Uzbekistan to participate in the U19 Asian Cup on February 22, 2021,” he said.

Iriawan emphasized that the national team’s preparation will be maximized in order to achieve proud achievements at the U20 World Cup next year in Indonesia.
“We continue to prepare the national team to achieve proud achievements,” said Iriawan.
“We are targeting the U20 national team to qualify from the group stage, hopefully we can enter the top 8,” he said.
“I, as the head of the PSSI, only did a lot of matches with European teams with better abilities. However, we can see that we can equalize quality and performance,” said Iriawan.
