Classique Legend wins for Kerrin McEvoy.

Classique Legend has won the world’s richest race on grass, Everest in Randwick.

Classique Legend won the 1200 meter race ahead of Bivouac, Gytrash was third.

It’s the third race win in four years for jockey Kerrin McEvoy, who was forced to come from far back in the field to claim victory.

“I just had to do my race, I looked up to the 600 and they were way ahead,” McEvoy told Seven.

“Full credit to my horse, he was really able to muster strength when I asked him and shortly after straightening up I was confident that I would pick her up.”

Classique Legend raised $ 6.2 million for the win.

McEvoy was full of praise for coach Les Bridge.

“He’s a miracle, he’s been great. He doesn’t say too much, he hasn’t given me any directions which is fantastic from a jockey’s point of view,” he said.

“He’s trained a few champions and this horse is high on his list.”

Bridge, 82, adds The Everest to his Melbourne Cup and Golden Slipper wins.
