Breakout Cat pipes Coleman medalists to claim first B&B

The impressive breakout year of GEELONG midfielder Cam Guthrie was crowned with a first best and most beautiful.

Guthrie (228 votes), who also won his first All-Australian Blazer in 2020, was eliminated Tom Hawkins (224) and Mark Blicavs (221) in a close finish to the ‘Carji’ Greeves medal.

defender Jack Henry and Mark O’Connor Both were in the top 10 for the first time.

Guthrie commended the club’s staff for running an intermittent campaign in 2020, highlighting the work of Trainer Chris Scott and his relationship with assistants Nigel Lappin and Matthew Knights.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Scotty for being a great coach and person at the club over the past 10 years,” said Guthrie.

“I couldn’t really see myself playing under another coach at the moment, I’m really enjoying our relationship.”

Votes were calculated based on each player’s top 20 games of the Cats’ 21 games for the season.

Blicavs and Harry Taylor shared the club’s Tom Harley Best Clubman Award while Little Striker Brad Close was named the best player of the cats in the first year.

captain Joel Selwood was named the club’s Community Champion for his work in the club’s community camp with the NAB AFL Auskick program and efforts under the Cats Care program.
