A new office, a new logo, a new sponsor and a climb to the top floor. It is with the desire to gain new momentum that the Badminton Val-de-Reuil-Louviers (BVRL) is preparing for the coming season.

Despite a 2019-2020 financial year truncated by the health crisis, the rolivalo-lovérienne agreement has finally succeeded in achieving its objective: that of rising to National 1, the second level on a hexagonal scale.

A great reward for the club who narrowly missed the climb last season.

New club president, Julien Fontaine is satisfied:

Because of the Covid-19, the championship ended on the eighth day. We were undefeated in the regular season. Due to the lockdown, many clubs have not relaunched. Two clubs were drafted. We are part of it.

New ambitions

This promotion increases the ambitions of BVRL, which intends to continue to grow in the years to come.

Julien Fontaine underlines the new challenges facing the club, particularly on the financial level:

In N1, there is € 4,000 to € 5,000 difference in the budget, he points out. We also have two years to update ourselves and have national level referees and a high level coach within the club.

In the meantime, the offseason is an opportunity to give the club a new dimension.

We are changing sponsors this season. We want to convey a new pro badminton image. Our logo was also a bit aging. It was the right time to change it. New [N.D.L.R. : qui représente un Viking] allows us to assert our Norman identity.

This policy is also reflected in a desire to recruit new players locally rather than targeting foreign players.

The objective is now to play with French players. If possible from the Normans. We also retain our young people who are supported by two old hands. I like this principle. It’s interesting to have this diversity.

“Keep this family side”

Determined to ensure that the BVRL remains a stronghold of Norman badminton, Julien Fontaine also insists on his desire to see the entire club benefit from this new dynamic.

The elite team is the showcase, but that’s not all. There is no first team without the club. We do a lot of things for recreational players and for smaller competitors. We want to structure things while keeping a family side.

The goal is also to swell the ranks of the club which currently has 120 licensees.

We were 145 last season. The goal of the new office is to reach 150 to 180 licensees. We also want to continue to create diversity between Val-de-Reuil and Louviers by organizing events in the two municipalities.

Soon the recovery

Next season kicks off on September 19, 2020. BVRL will host Créteil (Val-de-Marine), one of the favorites of Pool 2.

In the meantime, the club is preparing its reunion with the fields after long weeks of inactivity.

“We have implemented a protocol set up by the FFB and validated by the City,” explains Julien Fontaine. We hope to resume this summer. We are the only club that never closes. “
