General Assembly of Ligue de Bretagne in Rostrenen

The Brittany Badminton League traditionally renews its executives every Olympic year and even if the Olympics did not take place this year, their four-year mandate has indeed expired. It was in Rostrenen, Saturday morning, that the elective general assembly took place, bringing together the delegates of the four departmental committees and the leaders of the Breton clubs. A special assembly since Jean-Paul Didier, at 79, wanted to pass the baton after seven Olympiads. Twenty-eight years spent at the head of the League and the satisfaction of having seen the progress of this sport “interesting and fascinating and appreciating the human and very warm relationships it generates”.
What a long way since 1992 when Brittany had only 1,862 license holders in 68 clubs!
“Unfortunately,” he said in his moral report, “the crisis has not enabled us to reach the objective set: the bar of 14,000! “We are getting closer with 13,949 licensed players, 5,994 young people and 7,955 adults in 158 clubs.

Jean-Paul Didier becomes honorary president

Ille-et-Vilaine remains the leading committee in Brittany and France with 6,988 licensees, against 2,965 in Morbihan, 2,235 in Côtes-d’Armor and 1,761 in Finistère. Jean-Paul Didier recalled the four main axes used to implement actions in the regional territory: the development of practice, of course, but also training, sporting excellence and performance and a fourth societal axis for a badminton committed to the heart of our society.
His successor will be Christophe Millet, of the Châteaugiron club (35), who announced as soon as he was elected that his predecessor was made honorary president of the League and that the first task he should tackle was “the issue of dismissal which has been delayed since the start of the pandemic ”.
He will be supported by Serge Ackermann, treasurer, and Marc Le Hénanff, secretary. The other members elected for four years of the new board of directors are Liliane Ah-Peng, Catherine Amoureux, Marc Bodiguel, Océane Coquio, Pierre Cordon, Olivier Frouin, Aline Hervé, Régis Hervé, Thierry Quéré, Michel Vanlande and Jean-Philippe Végée .
