ATP – Vienna> Djokovic: “Sampras was my idol. Matching his record would mean a lot to me”

On the occasion of the media day of the ATP 500 in Vienna which took place this Sunday when the tournament will begin this Monday, October 26, Novak Djokovic returned to the possibility of equaling the record of Pete Sampras by finishing for the sixth times world number 1 at the end of the season. For that, he will have to at least reach the quarter-finals in Austria.

As a reminder, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic all finished number 1 in the world at the end of the year on five occasions.

» I no longer want to enter the debate on GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), I leave it to others to do so. Now what I’m going to try is to keep the world No.1 spot for as long as possible. Sampras was my idol when I was a kid and it would mean a lot for me to equal his record “, Declared the Serb who will have to beware of a complicated part of the table (see below).
