Ancer and Ortiz are still in the WGC-Mexico fight

MEXICO CITY.

Abraham Ancer had a second round of ups and downs at the WGC-Mexico Championship which was down to 70 hits, 1 under par.

Although he made five birdies, he went overboard on the seventh hole and lost two shots there with a double bogey. Additionally, on the 17th hole he had a good first shot motivated by a banner in which he came out dressed as a mariachi and people chanting his nickname “Turkish, Turkish”, but the nerves of wanting to play well in front of his people got to him and he ended up adding another bogey to his card.

It felt very nice with all the people yelling my name, my last name, my nickname. I had just made two birdies and I was left hungry yesterday (Thursday) when I made three birdies on the same holes. The first putt missed me and the next I wanted to put it so badly that I hit it a little harder than I should have, but you learn from that, “said Ancer who from position 19 with a total of -2, still hopes heading to the weekend.

In the meantime Carlos Ortiz had a very good three-under round that included an eagle on hole two.. Thanks to his card of 68 strokes he climbed 19 positions and is in 36th place with a total of one over par.
